TTUS Sketch gets a DVD release! PDF Print E-mail

For the longest time, it's seemed like there would never be any legitimate release of anything from The Tracey Ullman Show (TTUS).  But there is a glimmer of hope out there, for one sketch will be issued this fall as part of a new box set celebrating the career of Mel Brooks.  It's the sketch from February 1990 called "Due Diligence", and it featured Mel as a director looking to make one last film. It was a pretty good sketch, as I recall, and come this November, we'll get the chance to see it again.

You can read more about the Mel Brooks set from Shout Factory at www.forcesofgeek.com/2012/08/dvd-news-shout-factory-releases.html

There hasn't been a whole lot of activity in recent months.  Yes, Tracey did quite well in her autumn appearance in London's West end in My City, and she was part of the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Meryl Streep.  And today (Dec. 30) happens to be her 52nd birthday, which I'm finding hard to believe.

I don't think I'll be regularly updating the site until she becomes more active again.

This may seem a little strange for someone who's not too fond of the monarchy, but Tracey is going to be covering the Royal Wedding of William and Kate for Canada's CTV network.  She ought to have some pretty interesting insights on the monarchy, the fashion, the spectacle, the what-have-you.  And for those of us not in Canada, the coverage is going to be online.

Following on the news that Tracey will be part of the Canadian CTV network's crew covering the forthcoming Royal Wedding comes word that she'll be returning to the London stage this fall.  The Daily Mail (and several other sources) report that she'll be starring in Stephen Poliakoff's new play My City at the Almeida Theatre from September 8 to November 5.  In the play, she'll portray Lambert, a primary school headmistress who is found lying on a park bench near St. Paul's Cathedral by a former student.  It seems like an intriguing concept.  But am I intrigued enough to get a ticket and fly over there?

It's been quite a while since I've posted anything here.  To be honest, there hasn't been much to post since State of the Union ended and Tracey's been keeping a low profile as of late.  Well, in the days before her birthday on December 30, she has popped up with an article on the Daily Beast, listing her favorite 11 British movie performances of all time.  I don't think any of her choices are particularly surprising, for she's mentioned several of them before on previous occasions.
